- Operating Time: The Kuching Waterfront is a public park, so it is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. However, the food stalls usually open in the late afternoon and close by midnight. The musical fountain shows typically happen at 8:30 PM and 9:30 PM (times may vary slightly on weekends or public holidays).
- Suggested Time to Spend: Plan to spend about 1 to 2 hours here. The best time to visit is around 5:30 PM so you can enjoy the beautiful sunset, the cool evening breeze, and watch the city light up.
- Dressing: Malaysia is a tropical country, so it is hot and humid. Wear light, comfortable, and casual clothing like cotton t-shirts, shorts, or light trousers. Good walking shoes or comfortable sandals are a must.
Ticket Prices
Good news! Walking along the Kuching Waterfront is completely free. You do not need to buy a ticket to enjoy the views or walk on the Darul Hana Bridge.
However, you will need to pay if you want to take a boat ride.
A quick ride across the river on a traditional Penambang boat costs about RM 1.00 each way. If you choose the larger Sarawak River Cruise, tickets are usually around RM 65 to RM 70 for an adult.
Getting There
The Kuching Waterfront is located right in the middle of Kuching city.
- Walking: If you are staying in the city centre, you can easily walk there. It is located right across the road from the famous Main Bazaar.
- By E-hailing (Grab): Simply open your Grab app and set your destination to “Kuching Waterfront”. The drop-off points are usually near the Old Courthouse or the main viewing deck.
- By Bus/Car: If you are driving, there are parking spaces at the nearby Plaza Merdeka mall or the Saujana Car Park.

Tips When Visiting
- Bring an umbrella: The weather can be unpredictable. An umbrella will protect you from sudden rain or the hot afternoon sun.
