- Pristine Beaches and Clear Waters: The park is famous for its white sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters. It is one of the few places in Sarawak where you can safely swim and snorkel right off the beach.
- Turtle Conservation: The beaches here are major nesting sites for Green Turtles and Olive Ridley Turtles. If you stay overnight, you might be lucky enough to see the rangers releasing baby turtles into the sea.
- Jungle Trekking: There are four short walking trails. The trails take you through thick rainforests, where you can spot hornbills, silvered langurs (monkeys), and wild boars.
- Coral Reefs: The area has beautiful coral reefs close to the shore, making it a great spot for underwater photos.
Operating Time, Suggested Time & Dressing
Note: Always register at the park headquarters upon arrival for your own safety.
- Operating Hours: The park is open daily from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
- Suggested Time to Spend: You can do a day trip, but we highly recommend an overnight stay to truly enjoy the peaceful environment and see the turtles. If you are doing a day trip, plan to spend at least 4 to 5 hours there.
- What to Wear: Dress casually in light, breathable clothing (like cotton t-shirts and shorts). Bring swimwear, a hat, sunglasses, and a good pair of walking shoes if you plan to hike.

Entrance fees for Tanjung Datu National Park are very affordable. You pay these fees at the park office:

Getting There (From Kuching)
Getting to the park is now easier than ever thanks to the Pan Borneo Highway.
- Drive from Kuching to Telok Melano: Start your journey from Kuching and drive towards Sematan. From Sematan town, continue on the scenic highway all the way to Telok Melano. The drive takes about 2 to 2.5 hours in total.
- Boat from Telok Melano: Once you arrive at the Telok Melano village, you need to take a short boat ride to the park. The boat ride takes about 10 to 15 minutes and costs around RM 60 to RM 80 for a return trip (prices may vary depending on the boat operator).
- Alternative (Hiking): If you are feeling fit, you can hike from Telok Melano to the park headquarters, but taking the boat is much more popular and saves time.

Tips When Visiting
- Bring Cash: There are no ATMs in Telok Melano or the national park. Bring enough cash to pay for your boat ride, park tickets, and food.
- Pack Insect Repellent: Since it is a jungle, mosquitoes and sandflies are common.
- Check the Weather: The sea can be rough during the monsoon season (November to February). The best time to visit is from March to September.
- Bring Your Own Food: There are no restaurants inside the park. Bring snacks and bottled water, but please remember to take your rubbish back with you!
