Secondary schooling at Kuching Public Secondary Schools begins when a child is 13 on 1 January of a given year and is completed after five years of education.
The education at public secondary schools is free but not mandatory.
Students in Public Secondary Schools sit for PT3 when after they complete Form 3 at the age of 15, and later the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) when they finish Form 5. SPM is also known as the Malaysian Certificate of Education which is equivalent to the GCE ‘O’ level.
